Well folks, this blogging road was paved with good intentions. Unfortunately, we ran out of paving stones and stopped blogging for a bit. The good news is…..we’ve turned over a new leaf and are back at it again!
All this is to say that we haven’t blogged for about a year and A WHOLE LOT has happened since then. As most of you know, we moved out of Jordan, spent an amazing summer with family in Utah, and moved to Dubai in early August. Hopefully, we’ll be able to hit the highlights of those events sometime in the near future. But for now….
Dubai?!? That’s right, Dubai. I don’t know what keeps us on this crazy overseas adventure, but here we go again!
It all started with the longest flight we have taken to date. We took a short flight from Utah to Los Angeles. No biggie. But then, we hopped on a direct flight from Los Angeles to Dubai. 16 hrs in the air. Thankfully, the plane was quite empty and some of the kids were able to lay down in entire rows to sleep. What a blessing! it was a long haul, but we made it. Our sponsors picked us up at the airport and the Consulate shuttles took us and our mountain of luggage to our new home for the next three years.
Our residence is very nice and it deserves it’s own blog some other time. For now, we’d just like to let you know that we’ve arrived safely and we’ve been making the best of some pretty brutal jet lag; by going to the beach!
Dubai has an amazing beach scene and we’ve decided to take full advantage. Now, the kids have been waking up anywhere between 3:30 and 4:30 am. So usually around 5:00, we get ready and head out to the beach by 5:30-6:00.

The beach is only about a 10 minute drive from our house, so it’s pretty close and really easy to get to. Once there, as you can imagine, we are pretty much the only people on the beach. There is a lovely boardwalk and running track that spans the length of the beach as well, and there are usually joggers/bicycle riders getting some fresh air while it’s not 110 degrees outside. And yes, that is how hot it gets here, with 100% humidity to boot! But we come for the beach and once you’re in the water, it’s quite nice.

We feel so blessed to have arrived safely and to have the opportunity to live in and explore this country. But for now, we are focused on getting the kids in school and normalizing our routine. The kids need it. We need it.
We love you all and hope this entry finds you well. Until next time!

Pleased to see you are all keeping well and look to be enjoying yourselves. Hope you all recover from your jet lag quickly. We miss you all here in Harrogate. Best wishes.

Loved hearing about your newest adventure! That’s awesome. The water there in the gulf is also not freezing, so that’s nice! That’s great you’re taking advantage of the effects of jet lag and early hours without the heat.
